The Sports for Learning project integrates structured physical activity into school environments to promote holistic development among children and adolescents. By using sports as a dynamic entry point, the project teaches life skills, sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), and emotional wellbeing in a fun, inclusive, and culturally relevant way.
The program fosters teamwork, discipline, confidence, and respect, while also improving physical health and reducing absenteeism. Sports sessions are gender-sensitive and disability-inclusive, ensuring all learners, especially girls and children with disabilities, can participate safely and meaningfully.
Beyond physical activity, the project incorporates SRHR messaging, anti-bullying campaigns, and peer-led discussions on body autonomy, mental health, and gender equality. Teachers and coaches are trained to use sports as a tool for empowerment and social change.
